FAQs

New to massage or just new to us?

  1. How should I prepare for a massage? Stay hydrated, avoid heavy meals right before your appointment, and when possible shower before your massage.  Since high quality therapeutic creams, oils, and herbal treatments are often used to during your service and are best left on clean skin for maximum absorbtion for a few hours.  Arrive a few minutes early to discuss your goals and health concerns with your therapist.
  2. Do I need to get undressed for a massage? Only to your level of comfort or as needed by the type of therapy. You’ll be properly draped at all times, your modesty will be protected, and only the area being worked on will be exposed.
  3. Does massage hurt? Massage should never be unbearably painful. Some techniques may cause slight discomfort, but using breath work to focus in on the release and communication with your therapist about pressure will ensure the best results.
  4. Can massage help with chronic pain or medical conditions? Yes, massage can alleviate symptoms of conditions like arthritis, fibromyalgia, sciatica, migraines, etc. Always inform your therapist of medical concerns for tailored treatment.
  5. What should I expect after a massage? It’s common to feel slightly sore in the areas that were worked on, especially after a deep tissue or therapeutic massage. You might also feel tired due to the release of tension and toxins. Check out our Post-Massage Care Guide.

Baby, or someone new

Post Massage Care Guide

Your massage is over, now what?

  1. Stay Hydrated: Massage helps release toxins and tension stored in your muscles. Drinking plenty of water after your session aids in flushing out these toxins and rehydrating your body.
  2. Rest and Relax: Your body has just undergone a restorative process. Avoid strenuous activities for the rest of the day to allow your muscles and mind to fully absorb the benefits of your massage.
  3. Take Note of Your Body’s Feedback: You might feel a little sore, especially after deep tissue work. This is normal and should pass in a day or two. If you notice persistent discomfort, let us know.
  4. Stretch Gently: Light stretching can help maintain the relaxation and mobility you gained during your session. Avoid any intense workouts or heavy lifting immediately after your massage.
  5. Nourish Your Body: Choose light, nutrient-rich meals to complement your body’s healing process. Avoid alcohol or heavy foods right after your session, as they can counteract the detoxifying effects of massage.
  6. Use Heat or Cold Therapy if Needed: For sore areas, applying a warm compress can relax muscles further. If there’s any mild inflammation, a cold pack might be more appropriate.
  7. Sleep Well: You may find that your sleep improves after a massage. Allow yourself to fully relax and enjoy a good night's rest to help your body recover.
